Learn how to change any text in your app's interface.

You may change any and all the text in your app's interface:

  • to simplify words and phrases for young readers.

  • to add a language that isn't supported, instead of one that is.

  • to use phrases appropriate for your genre or industry, i.e. Instead of Next chapter, you can have Next Act, or Advance Forward.

Changing the Text

  1. Click on the Customize tab in the top header to open the Customize Screen.

  2. Click on the Reading tab.

  3. Go to Default language and select your preferred language from the drop-down menu.

  4. Click on Customize language.
The language editor will open. All the terms (labels, commands, and messages) in the user’s interface are listed.

    1. Scroll through the list or search for a particular term in the filter box in the lower right corner.

    2. Locate the terms you want to change and enter the new wording in the text box.

    3. Download the language's JS file by clicking Save to file if you'd like. Make changes to it then upload the file, by clicking on Load from file.

    4. Click Save.

Filtering translations

You may only want to edit one particular translation, but it can be too overwhelming to go through all of those words to find what you want. To make it easy, you can search for that word or phrase using the text box next to Filter in the lower right part of the language editor.

Resetting translations

After applying your edits, if you happen to return to the language editor for the same translation's language, it will show a new option: Reset translations

This will reset all your edits to the default translations provided by the software.
