Create an ebook out of your blog.

Your blog will automatically load with all images in place. If you like, Kotobee can automatically generate subchapters based on the headers in the page. For more on how and why you should turn your blog into an ebook, check out this article Turn Your Blog into an Ebook.

Make an ebook based on your website.

To import an HTML file, you can

  1. drag and drop the file into Kotobee Author, or
  2. click on Import HTML when you first open Kotobee Author in the Welcome Window, or
  3. select File > Import From > HTML from the Menu Bar, or
  4. click on the Import HTML icon in the upper left toolbar of the Edit screen.

The Import HTML window will open.

5.  Your HTML File: You may upload a file from your computer or enter the web address. In both cases, Kotobee Author will automatically pull any referenced images, fonts, or general files.

    a. To upload an HTML file from your computer, click on the Browse HTML File button. Then select the HTML file only, not the associated folder. Click Open.

    b. To upload a website, select URL and enter the web address in the text box below it.

6. Default chapter title

You may set a default title to be used if there are no titles in the original file.

7. Parent chapter

You may insert your file as a parent chapter or subchapter of any existing chapter in your book. Select the parent chapter from the DropBox. Selecting Root means that the chapter you import is a top-level Parent Chapter.

8.  Make remote content available offline

Check the types of referenced files (Images & fonts, video, audio, CSS, JS)  you want to download and store inside your ebook to make them available offline.

9.  Adjust Internal Links

Check this option if your HTML is divided into multiple subchapters. The internal HTML links will be adjusted to point to the appropriate subchapter.

10. Exclude stylesheets

Check this option if you do not want to include the CSS stylesheets.

11. Split chapters by

Kotobee Author can automatically generate chapters and subchapters according to HTML tags or custom markers. The HTML content will be scanned, and wherever the tag or marker is found, a new chapter or subchapter will begin.

  • Supported HTML tags are H1, H2, H3, H4, P, DIV, SECTION
  • Custom markers are any text that you enter in your content (or HTML code) to indicate where the chapters and subchapters begin.

The markers should not be common words that may appear in the middle of the chapter.

You will also need to use a distinct marker for each level of subchapters. For example, your markers can be straightforward labels like "ParentChapterMarker" and "SubchapterMarker" and "SubSubChapterMarker." Every time the term "ParentChapterMarker" appears a New Chapter will be made, and every time "SubchapterMarker" appears a new subchapter will begin, etc.

Delete marker from content if you want your custom markers removed after import so that the marker does not interfere with the content, and is used solely as a placeholder.

  • Select Don't split from the dropbox if you want to import the file as one chapter.

12. Splitting Subchapters

Click the Add deeper scanning button to add an additional subchapter level. Don't forget to use a different tag or marker for each level.

13. Click Import

The import will take place instantly.
